How Painful is it to get Dental Implants

Having Dental Implants Is Not a Painful Procedure.

Dental implants should not be painful at all. If you are having a single implant placed most of our patients require only local anesthesia for the procedure, followed by an over the counter pain medication such as advil or tylenol and an antibiotic. In our patients who have larger surgeries (Full extractions, all on 4 procedures) we usually recommend an IV Sedation administered by a certified anesthesiologist. Afterwards the patient is given an icepack to help with inflamation, given an antibiotic and pain medication, and then scheduled for a check up a few days later. As with any surgery you can expect some soreness afterwards, however nothing that will leave you in bed all day.
